JetBlue Airways
MyDegree from JetBlue Scholars – an award-winning program delivered via a Totara LMS that boosted learner engagement, employee retention, and access to higher education for crew members.
01
The client and their environment
JetBlue Airways, one of the leading carriers in the United States, recognized the inflating cost of higher education and wanted to be part of the solution.
They created an educational assistance program called JetBlue Scholars to empower their crew members to earn a college degree.
02
The training challenge
After enrollment, the students needed to be self-directed in their educational pursuit and the administrators needed the resources necessary to ensure their success.
JetBlue Scholars is the first educational assistance program of its kind, and it needed a “first of its kind” LMS technology solution to match.
03
Our solution
Webanywhere created MyDegree, a Totara learning management system that aggregates JetBlue-approved self-study courses, quizzes, assessments and exams from a variety of providers so that students can earn college credit towards an expanding list of degrees offered.
Custom Degree Paths
MyDegree aggregates all forms of college credit and course provider content for a seamless end-user experience. The overall design emphasizes self-service, which enables the students, known as Scholars, to easily navigate within the system versus a traditional college catalog.
Real-time tracking is reflected so that Scholars can easily see a list of requirements, what they’ve completed and what they still need to complete. There is no limit to how much a student can progress, enabling an efficient, self-paced learning experience for Scholars.
Scholar & Success Coach Mentorship
With MyDegree, Scholars can easily communicate with their Success Coaches, who are fellow JetBlue employees and sometimes even Scholars themselves. The technology of MyDegree isn’t just for course aggregation, it also facilitates a relationship between Scholars and their Success Coaches.
Degree Enrollment
MyDegree facilitates the experience for current Scholars and Success Coaches, and is also used as an application and enrollment portal for new Scholars.
Degree Management
With the Success Coach dashboard in MyDegree, Success Coaches can communicate to Scholars instantly with chat capabilities and can log conversations and follow-ups, store personal notes and perform status tracking of courses. They also have the ability to approve or deny course requests and can access their Scholars’ degree plans in order to manage degree progress.
