The Solution: Totara LMS Enhanced with a Custom OJT Plugin
To bridge that gap, Joby adopted Totara LMS—a flexible, open enterprise learning platform—and collaborated with Webanywhere to build a custom On-the-Job Training (OJT) plugin. Together, they delivered a system that empowered evaluators, supported scalability, and ensured regulatory alignment.
At a high level, the OJT plugin allows trainers—designated as evaluators based on role-specific learning completions—to assess real-time performance during on-the-job activities. Each training event is logged with standardized fields such as date, procedure version, and sign-off status. Trainers can assess one or multiple learners in a single session using configurable digital forms. The system automatically validates input, records submissions, and generates training completion status only when final sign-off is confirmed.
Each evaluation is stored in a searchable activity log, enabling administrators and compliance teams to review, edit, archive, or restore records with full traceability. Learners, meanwhile, have transparent access to their own progress and can clearly see the requirements needed to become evaluators themselves. The result is a streamlined, auditable, and user-friendly process that mirrors the fluid demands of real-world training environments—without compromising data integrity or regulatory needs.
