Hornsey School for Girls

Hornsey School for Girls Case Study

After seeing Webanywhere at the 2014 BETT show in London, Hornsey School for Girls approached the edtech firm to supply them with a dynamic and cost-effective VLE to replace their existing platform. They wanted a flexible learning management system but also needed parents to be able to log in and view their child’s records. Moodle was chosen as the ideal LMS.

The Situation

Hornsey found their previous system to be old and clumsy, even after updating it. Students and teachers were using it less and less each day, so the value for money was being lost. Only accredited administrators could call for support, and to become one you had to go on a two-day offsite training course.

The VLE was also limited in its editing abilities and there were constant issues with file uploads. The parental logins displayed little to no useful information, with nothing on the parents’ site to show student work or grades.

The Solution

A brand new Moodle system with a custom theme and SIMS integration has given Hornsey a responsive new platform that works on cell phones, syncs all their students with SIMS and gives parents the ability to easily check on student progress.

The ability for anyone to call Webanywhere’s support desk at any time also solved the issue of the offsite training. Webanywhere not only speak to anyone who needs help (regardless of training) but also carry out on-site training with staff. The VLE met all the design requirements and more.

The Feedback

The school are delighted with the results, exceeding their expectations and delivering a cost-effective solution. Webanywhere also surpassed expectation with support and help.

“From first meeting Webanywhere in January 2014, they have been very helpful and supportive, and came to meet with myself and the senior leadership team on several occasions before any decision was made on our new VLE. Throughout the design and implementation process, Webanywhere worked hard to meet all of our expectations and requirements. Since we have started using Moodle, they’ve also met with staff for training and have helped us to put together further training as well as passing on helpful tips and how-to guides. I would happily recommend Webanywhere as a Moodle provider to any school looking for a new VLE.”
